Fluff it up! Dry it out! Seed it! Because the Phillips Rotary Harrow only works in the top inch or so it works up the seedbed only. Soil density management is preserved. It mixes in residue, warms the soil surface and levels the ground so you can plant directly into the seedbed without any other preparation.

Manages Residue Well in Minimum Tillage Operations
No-till, minimum-till, and government surface residue requirements have all presented challenges. The Phillips Rotary Harrow has an exceptional ability to work in heavy residue and trash without plugging or bunching. No-till and minimum-till farmers are using our harrow to fluff the residue mat and work (dry, aerate) the surface of the soil. This operation dries and warms the soil surface and seed bed to enable farmers to get on their land earlier.

Another residue related use of the Phillips in the grain belt is to harrow the stubble after harvest. This operation encourages weed seed and volunteer germination prior to freeze up. Chemical application can be included in this operation. Much of the stubble is left standing for snow retention and erosion control.

Levels Lumps and Ridges
The Phillips Rotary Harrow is used to level lumps and ridges on previously worked ground. Leveling in the spring after fall disking is a very common use. There is a limit, of course, to how large a ridge we can knock down, or deep a furrow we can fill especially with a single pass.

Works Great for Incorporation
Achieve shallow incorporation of granular products with a very effective mixing action. This mixing action eliminates the "banding effect" often experienced with other tillage implements. The 'three-dimensional" mixing incorporates at the depth the harrow works. The strong frame design accommodates granular applicators like Val Mar. Mounting is easy as mounting brackets are already on the frame.

Works Great for Seeding Small Seeds
Because the Phillips Rotary Harrow only works in the top inch or so small seeds can be broadcast and incorporated into the right seed zone (about a half inch). This is a speedy way to seed down grass seed and other similar products. Val Mar applicators are available just for this job through your Phillips dealer.
