Applications
Manage Soil Compaction
Compaction can reduce yields by 50% or more. The SMART-TILL 2200s heavy
duty tines fracture the soil up to 8” with minimum surface soil disturbance.
This fracturation breaks up compaction layers caused by field traffic, implement
usage, livestock traffic and rainfall to the depth of 8”.
Incorporate Liquid Manure
The SMART-TILL 2200 used immediately after or in conjunction with the banding
of surface applied liquid manure allows rapid incorporation into the soil.
Further, the Phillips Rotary Harrow modules greatly reduces odor problems
due to their covering action.
Pasture Rejuvenation
The SMART-TILL 2200 used on pasture land can free up root bound plants
and improve moisture retention. The result is ‘greened up' fields with improved
productive capacity.
Use on Forages
The SMART-TILL 2200 can be used on multiple cut forages, such as alfalfa
and timothy, between cuts, without damage to the roots. This will alleviate
surface compaction and allow much needed nutrients to permeate the soil,
thereby increasing yields.
Aeration/Moisture Retention
When used as an aeration tool before planting or after harvest, the SMART-TILL
2200 helps stimulate the growth of natural organisms in soil and increases
infiltration of moisture, which reduces runoff. This in turn enhances the
soil capability to maintain greater moisture reserves, while maximizing
the soils natural ability to absorb excess moisture.
Primary After-Harvest Conservation Tillage Tool
Set at the most aggressive angle, the SMART-TILL 2200 is an excellent primary
tillage tool for after harvest under a conservation system. The tines will
break up and knock down surface residue, with minimal residue being buried.
Over 80% of residue is still maintained in order to prevent erosion and
contribute necessary organic matter into the soil. As well, compaction layers
up to 8” will be broken up.
